Microsoft released a patch for MS Office XP and Windows that included about a dozen fixes. Included were approximately 8 critical patches. Microsoft also announced plans to purchase Sybari Software Inc. This deal will provide Microsoft with the ability to go head to head with McAfee and Symantec.

In other news, InfoWorld ran this article that talks about how inventive spammers are getting. We relate this to an earlier story we covered and how this "discovery" may just hurt the little guy...

SD Poemcast: For The Union Dead

An unofficial theme is emerging this week -- poems concerning Boston. I think I'll roll with it. Robert Lowell is certainly ripe for the picking when it comes to my hometown.

This poem has an ache I can't quite quantify. And it makes the parts of the city I ignored before swell and belch their history so I can't ignore them anymore.

Robert Lowell - For The Union Dead (approx. 3:13)

I've been having fun with Reason again. Too much fun, really. I feel like some sort of addict. I probably am some sort of addict, but there are worse things to be addicted to, I reckon. This is a little ditty with a Kalimba and some Vibes, some fun with the drum computer, a couple of beats, a piano and lots of digital delay. Enjoy!

Wednesday's show was pretty good. Paul Dyster was the guest. Man, this guy has done a bunch of cool stuff. Aside from being a former NF Councilman and Mayoral candidate, he was a member of the CFR and an arms negotiator for the State Department. Good show - and we'll bring him on again soon.
