Walkabout Podcast 1 for Feb 8, 2005: Trackback spam & blog templates

In today's Walkabout podcast I'm trying a few new things. First off I talk about two topics, trackback spam and blog templates in one podcast. I've also added music to this one. Kind of a theme song, intro thing. The music is from Sarah Harmer's first album. It's the beginning of her hit song "Basement Apartment"--one of my favourite songs. Please visit her site and check out her stuff.I also added an addendum at the end asking for feedback and story ideas. I'm really enjoying Audacity. It makes editing very simple. Even I can do it! The second Walkabout podcastis posted on the Qumana Blog.Today's links: Blogware Blogger drupal.org Bryght TypePadtrackback_and_templates_fn.mp3(10.4 MB, 11 min 22 sec)Powered By Qumana

I am joining the podcast revolution and adopting the preferred methods of listener communication. I have been using Skype longer than I have been podcasting, but i have just recently added a link to call me using Skype.

Thanks to Todd from Business Thoughts,
I am now set up with my very own Gmail account. Todd has a great
site with a new feature that i am excited to follow, The Future of
Podcasting. Todd has arranged for some of the pioineers of
podcasting to join him for an inside look into where the medium is
heading. Check it out.

I have also added a listener comment line: 206.202.COOK (2665) for
folks to leave messages, comments, and talk about what is on their
mind. Give me a ring, it's fun!

Voice Over IP, or "VoIP", is an increasingly popular way to make a receive phone calls. Voices are routed over the Internet instead of the old telephone network. It offers more features and lower prices--but appears to be vulnerable to the same security threats that plague the 'Net.

A new industry group, the VoIP Security Alliance, wants to get on top of would-be VoIP hackers, spammers, and fraudsters before they ruin the new technology.
