Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth,
ou who go down to the sea, and all that is in it,you islands, and all who live in them. Isaiah 42:10

This song is not yet written for it is the praise of today. We will compose it as we see the Lord’s mercies unfold. It is the song God in planting in your heart. It is a song of gratitude, hope and thanksgiving. It is a song of praise for His majesty and it is your song.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

When we wait, not casually, passing the time but waiting expectantly, serving Him, as we seek to do his will in our lives he will come and lift us above those stresses, and burdens that seem so insurmountable. We will soar above them with the strength and ease of an eagle.

And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it. Isaiah 35:8

On the Way of holiness there is nothing to be feared. There is only the promise of joy that will overtake the travelers when they finally step foot on home territory.

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal. Isaiah 26:3-4

Keep our minds on the Lord; keep our eyes fixed on Him. Keep our heart filled with his Word and his promises. When we do that when we put on confidence in the Lord and hold on to Him He will not allow us to fail.

"In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah. I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
Isaiah 22:20-22

...so the king of Assyria will lead away stripped and barefoot the Egyptian captives and Cushite exiles, young and old, with buttocks bared—to Egypt's shame. Isaiah 20:4

It was quite an image, Isaiah stripped down to his undershirt and barefoot for three years all to demonstrate the reality of the message. God wanted his people to see, to understand what was about to happen. The King of Assyria would lead a once great and feared people away as slaves, chained, ashamed, and fearful. How could this happen?

The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation." Isaiah 12:2b

Have you ever considered how powerful a song can be? Many times when we are facing what seems insurmountable challenges our strength returns on the wings of a song, perhaps one of the hymns that have brought encouragements to millions over the years, perhaps something as simple as a children’s song, “Jesus love me this I know,” or maybe a special song gently placed in your heart between you and the Lord alone.

Episode 146
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. I Peter 2:24

While his death was foretold the reality was so much harsher than what Christ's followers could have imagined. Jesus entered the city treated like a rock star but reality set in and then Good Friday that felt like Bad Friday was upon them. Sometimes the greatest victories come out of the darkest night.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: Isaiah 11: 1

Isaiah spoke of a sprout from the house of Jesse. Everyone knew David’s name but some may have forgotten that Jesse was his father. God was taking them back to the beginning, to Jesse’ house. From this house would come a sprout, from this house would come a Savior.

Walking the lighted path

O house of Jacob, come and let us walk In the light of the LORD. Isaiah 2:5

Turn quickly from this dark and rocky path to the paved and lighted highway. When we walk in God’s light he opens our eyes and heart. He takes over the waters when the troubles have washed out the bridge and there seems no way to reach the destiny we are charged to achieve.

Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18

The prophet reminded everyone of God’s love, God faithfulness and probably what people found most troubling was that Isaiah held up a mirror so that people might see themselves as God sees them.

Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. Song of Solomon 2:7

The beauty, the fulfillment of emotional and physical love when expressed within the bounds of a blessed relationship, one that has been brought together by God, is a precious gift. Perhaps that is why the Lord pictures the church as his bride. He loves us, cares for us and never forsakes us.

He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.
Song of Solomon 2:4

Episode 139
All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God's providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole [duty] for every man. Ecclesiastes 12:13 (Amplified Bible)

We have a purpose and that purpose has been given to us by God. No matter how much we do. No matter how much prestige and money we earn, if we fail to discover our purpose true happiness will always elude us.
